Abstract

The issue of heat loads on the divertor in fusion plasmas has attracted attention. In this seminar, we will discuss the effects of turbulence and transport on this heat load issue. After describing the speaker's previous research on typical drift-wave turbulence, an example estimating its effect on reducing heat loads will be presented. As a development in that direction, I will introduce model development that incorporates electromagnetic fluctuation effects, and touch on the status of work on developing models that include the expected effects of pressure anisotropy caused by localized heating planned for RF plugging and similar techniques.
