It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 16th IAEA Technical Meeting on Control Systems, Data Acquisition, Data Management and Remote Participation in Fusion Research, to be held at the University of Tsukuba, Japan.

This Technical Meeting will bring together scientists, engineers, early-career researchers, and experts from around the world to exchange knowledge and discuss the technologies that support the advancement of fusion research. Control systems, data acquisition and management, machine protection, and remote participation are increasingly important not only for the reliable operation of today’s experimental facilities, but also for ITER, DEMO, and future fusion devices. I sincerely hope that the meeting will provide an open and stimulating forum for new ideas, practical discussions, and lasting international collaboration.

The University of Tsukuba offers a highly interdisciplinary academic environment, bringing together expertise in plasma physics, engineering, information science, data science, and advanced instrumentation. Its Plasma Research Center has a long history of contributing to national and international fusion research through large-scale linear plasma facilities, including GAMMA 10/PDX. We look forward to sharing with you both our scientific activities and the distinctive research environment of the University.
